Shifting IT into high gear: How not to get run over on Highway 21

Presented At:

Highway 21 Conference (Adams 12 School District), Thorton, Colorado, June 2010

Program Description: Generation Y is the largest segment of our population. They are the most cross-cultural, cross-creed, and cross-color generation in history. They are unconsciously competent technology users, viewing technology as an essential "good." They see computers and mobile devices as useful, necessary, and liberating. They expect to live virtually, communicate and collaborate globally, create authentic and useful content, and they are sitting in our classrooms right now... doing very little of these things. The technology to engage these learners abundant, yet formal education is slow to make it a reality for our students. It's time to flip the switch on, jam the gear shift out of neutral, and start moving down Highway 21.
